Can Balaguer is a historic stately home in Palma. Within its walls, artist and curator Janice McNab presents an exhibition project in which the domestic space becomes a point of encounter with the complex climate reality we inhabit. The House and the Forest brings the historic collection of Can Balaguer into dialogue with contemporary artists whose works take the living environment, in its broadest sense, as a point of departure. While the screens of our devices are filled with images belonging to this environment, its fragility remains concealed behind their glow. This exhibition draws from McNab’s research into the effects of the climate crisis, not only as they manifest in our living world, but also in contemporary imagery and the way we see reality.
